At least Kerry didn't send him a fish wrapped in newspaper postmarked from Arkansas.

I wonder if Kerry's been in contact with his VVAW buddies: "Remember when we wanted to off pro-war senators? Well, I've revised the mission slightly..."

I heard the Fox report on this last night. They said a Kerry spokesman (Meehan?) had just provided a response. it said the claim Kerry offered to change parts of his book was "an outright exaggeration." I've heard of outright lies, outright inaccuracies, but doesn't an "outright exaggeration" mean it's partly true?

Even Kerry knows... "Keep you enemies close."
To: Williams
Maybe the phrase he was looking for was, "outright nuance."

The day before John Kerry wrapped up the Democratic nomination for the presidency, he tried to talk the leader of Swift Boat Veterans for Truth, retired Navy Adm. Roy Hoffman, out of his now politically potent activism. It didn't work. It's also illegal for a candidate to direct or coordinate the activities of a 527 for the benefit of his campaign.

yes, that's right... either in favor or opposed.
BUT - the catch is that this was before he accepted the nomination. Does that matter?
If so, we have the presumed RAT candidate making a direct ex parte contact with the leader of a 527 group, to solicit, direct, challenge, and mitigate information concerning his candidacy for public office.

BUT - the catch is that this was before he accepted the nomination. Does that matter? Bush hasn't accepted HIS party's nomination even now. Ask the New York Times if THAT matters.

"Over the course of the past months, John Kerry has talked to many of the vets he served with in Vietnam," senior Kerry adviser Michael Meehan told FOX News. "He did speak with Hoffman about that time ... . But the charge that somehow he could change Mr. Brinkley's book is an outright exaggeration." I wonder, then, if Meehan could tell us why Kerry called Hoffman in the first place.
If not to "cut a deal", then why?
