I doubt they are counting illegals. We just moved out of TX by choice. Overcrowded schools, high taxes, crime, high insurance, etc. Illegals are a big part of those problems.

BTW the site referenced makes the point that by classifying Latinos as "White", Latinos lose access to aid that is available to "African Americans" and is titled Why Latinos Should Reject the Legal Designation of White

It has to include the illegals, which is why this trend is happening and why the amount of poverty has increased. What it fails to mention is that most of the illegals feel as if they have escaped poverty.

If the borders were sealed, this same demographic change would have happened...it just happened faster due to the porous barrier that is our southern border.

"White" is a political category. It's determined by local convention (or personal preference). I think it's confusing that the same word "race" is used for this social invention as is used in the biological category's of race (Caucasian, mongoloid, negroid).

Illustrating how political the nature of color category's are, are the varying definitions of what constitutes "white". Earlier in the 20th century Jews were often not considered white and of course there were the infamous "one drop" rules. The person who is "white" in one state may be "non-white" in another.
