I went to the Windows Update page, and it told me to install it, with these details:
Total updates selected: 1 items, 75 MB, 3 hours 56 minutes

yeah right. four hours. even if I wanted to, my ISP probably would disconnect before it was finished (peoplepc).

In the old days that was a problem. When there was dial-up, the ISP software had timers that knocked you off-line if there was no activity after a certain period. With broadband, its "always on" so you just stay connected to the Internet 24/7. Once broadband gets really affordable, I believe downloading will become the way to deliver software and upgrades.
