Why not just lower the tax rate and let us keep more of our money to begin with?
23% is way too high for a blasted sales tax anyway.
Let's just think "Burger King" Willie!
If you can't "have it YOUR way" then it's a debacle and not worth contemplation.
It's a step in the right direction, is worth looking into, and does a fine job of lessening the burden of complication in the receiving of tax revenue for the government.
Complication reduction in itself would save a tremendous amount of government cost.
Hehe. Because they couldn't confuse you out of more of your money then.
"Why do they have to give a rebate to make it 'fair'???"
Because the research which went into the FairTax's development indicated that the American people were overwhelmingly opposed to a tax system that made it impossible or more difficult for those at the bottom of the economic ladder to afford basic essentials. The FairTax is a representation of what the American people wanted in a tax system. You are, of course, free to disagree with a majority of Americans. However, those of us who want to see something done on this issue and SOON consider that a fairly important attribute of a tax reform proposal.
"23% is way too high for a blasted sales tax anyway."
I agree, as well as just under half the American population. However, I also see this as a great way to open the eyes of the moochers. Once they see what their greed costs us all, they may just come over to our side to reduce the size of the Fed!
Because the prebate is the mechanism that relieves poor people of the burden of paying payroll taxes or sales taxes before they are allowed to feed themselves and their families. "Regressive" has always been the main line of defense against the sales tax as a replacement for the income tax; but no more!
