Most pastors will not have the guts to show it.

Probably right.

And in any case, how does this "counter Michael Moore"?
Moore's charges against Bush, crazy though they are, aren't answered by a video about the president's spirituality.
People who take seriously a video about the president's spirituality are not people, generally speaking, who will be taken in by Moore's vile propaganda. Indeed, they're unlikely to have seen it.

While I'm glad this video has been produced, and while it probably will do some good among undecided churchgoers and family-values zealots who aren't satisfied with Bush, it does have a whiff of evasion about it. It's somewhat in the same spirit as "I'm praying hard for President Bush, and that's the best thing I can do." If so, why don't parents just pray for their families instead of working to provide for them? Etc., etc. In other words, religious people cannot simply focus on the spiritual dimensions of things. Sooner or later they have to confront the secular arguments against Bush, and make the secular ones for him. Political campaigns are never about a candidate's spirituality, though I'll allow a partial exception for Carter in 1976.

Render unto God the things that are God's, but render unto Caesar the things that are Caesar's.
