I do not recall him being this popular prior to the 2000 election...was he?

I'm a vet and I piss on McCain...
He is taking Kerry's side in the fight against the Swiftees. They are heroes who have stood by their nation...but McCain is standing on the side of Benedict Arnold Kerry.

I don't believe the Bush folks would bother going out of their way for McCain - he is too flaky. The Bush team reached out to him in regards to the 527s, but I think that is more of an invitation for the Kerry campaign to put another round into its foot. If anyone is desperate for McCain backing, it is the Kerry folks and it won't help them because he has made himself fairly irrelevant in the last 3-1/2 years.

McCain needs to publicly support the President or switch parties.

After this election cycle, with GWB the big winner, McCain will have no further campaign value. This is his last shot at sainthood.

It almost makes you think that it has something to do with the POW/MIA work they did together in the early 90s, where they both let the families of these men down.

Rumor has it that McCain is looking at 2008 for a run at the presidency.

"McCain needs to publicly support the President or switch parties."
Why should he? ...The creep is getting what he wants by threatning to go on either side as it suits him. Name one other senator with as much power.

...Seventy per cent of Americans cannot name their senators or their congressman. Forty-nine per cent believe that the President has the power to suspend the Constitution. Only about thirty per cent name an issue when they explain why they voted the way they did, and only a fifth hold consistent opinions on issues over time. (Quote from a magazine about political science) McCain is popular because of so many uninformed people.

John McCain was one of the Keating Five. I wonder why people forget this?

Anyone want to bet on whether this article had its genesis inside the Kerry Campaign?
