I'm told that now coming across the newswires is a new column from Bob Novak that contains extensive quotes from Retired Rear Adm. William L. Schachte Jr.
Schachte, call-sign "Batman," has broken his press silence to insist that he was indeed aboard the Boston Whaler or "skimmer" in the early morning mission on December 2, 1968, out of which Sen. John Kerry's first Purple Heart was awarded. Schachte maintains that Kerry's minor arm wound was not sustained while under enemy fire, but was indeed the result of Kerry code-named "Robin" on this mission being careless in firing an M-79 grenade launcher. Other officers are quoted to support the likelihood of Schachte's presence.
I'll update this post when I can find the full Novak column online.
In light of this

Hey WaPo - The truth is not a smear!!!!!!!!!!
i think the swifties were smart enough to have hired a consultant familiar with DNC/Clintonesque tactics... they have been strategically on the mark so far.
The Swiftees actions are causing massive casualties. KErry is toast, but won't admit it, and the media is exposed, as shills for a con-man, to another chunk of the public.
It's becoming more and more apparent that he always needed a supervisor on the boat.
FWIW-
The RATs have done that before (e.g. in New Jersey). I don't think (short of a Vince Foster kind of solution) that Kerry can back out. He is in for the gauntlet. Ouch, it is going to HURT. It could not happen to a more deserving guy.
I suspect you may be right. And Jean Fraude's denial and smear strategy is playing right into their trap, which seems to have been designed with military savvy. I've even wondered whether the slow delivery of "Unfit for Command" may be part of the strategy, making it even more in demand and prolonging its effects. I know I can't wait to lay my hands on it. And after hearing O'Neill say yesterday that he's likely to revise the book, I may need to get the 2nd edition, too.
I hope you are right but the media suppression continues... they are still stonewalling the substance of all of the allegations.
Is there any aspect of Kerry's tour of duty in 'Nam that he has not lied about, other than that he was in Vietnam and commanded a Swift Boat?
God bless those veterans! They served their country 35 years ago, and they're still serving it today.
Proudly Serving
How sweet it is....Too many people have been hurt by the actions of JFnK. The swifties are not alone.
"Nam-vets Revenge" Indeed!
I wonder how much the Clintons have secretly donated to the Swifties? (grin)
Well stated.
And, to those worried that Kerry will step down, relax. PIAPS knows that no RAT is gonna beat GWB this fall. She'd rather see Lurch lose and then pick up the pieces for 2008.
And this is still just a warm up to what is still to come :0)
Yep, Kerry is suffering deeper and more traumatic injuries than he did while in Viet Nam. He might finally require hospitalization. And naturally, he still thinks the US Military and the men who serve it honorably and loyally are the enemy. Some things just don't change when they are seared in you.
Yes, and I'm proud of them, too. You know from their behavior today that they served as honorable patriots and determined combatants. I can't help but feel that we could have won that war with such men if we had wanted to.
Hill might be getting a panicky phone call from RAT headquarters at this very minute. A decent delay of twenty-four hours or less, while Kerry resigns, having decided he'd rather play with expensive toys TerAYsa bought him than run for President. After which Hill will climb into Ol' Crusty and head for the nearest tv camera. Meanwhile, Edwards doesn't know which end is up. The 'Kerry is a war hero with shrapnel in his leg' speech is too embarrassing to pitch even to yokels. Yokels have the internet, they know all about rice up Kerry's behind, how he fled up the river and came back when he figured the coast was clear, the phony purple heart medals, the lies. Rats think Hill looks good compared to Kerry. She ate turkey in Iraq. She can run as a defense expert.
I heard a woman caller to the Rush show today who was outraged after seeing a picture of the cover of sKerry's book "New Soldier" she thought the hippie looking types raising an upside down American Flag were mocking the great picture from WWII of the flag raising at Iwo Jima. I think a direct mail campaign somewhere nearer the election of this book cover picture with a little explanation of what a mockery and insult to the WWII generation it is, would motivate many of that generation and their families to go vote against sKerry.
> One gets the feeling that this was all planned
> like a military operation.
Or a lawsuit.
O'Neill is a practicing attorney.
I've been following the SCO v. IBM cases, and IBM has
been entirely masterful in letting SCO set themselves
up to get trapped weeks later.
