I'm told that now coming across the newswires is a new column from Bob Novak that contains extensive quotes from Retired Rear Adm. William L. Schachte Jr.
Schachte, call-sign "Batman," has broken his press silence to insist that he was indeed aboard the Boston Whaler or "skimmer" in the early morning mission on December 2, 1968, out of which Sen. John Kerry's first Purple Heart was awarded. Schachte maintains that Kerry's minor arm wound was not sustained while under enemy fire, but was indeed the result of Kerry code-named "Robin" on this mission being careless in firing an M-79 grenade launcher. Other officers are quoted to support the likelihood of Schachte's presence.
I'll update this post when I can find the full Novak column online.
O'Neill is just uncanny.
Two officers in a 14 foot boat doesn't make sense to me unless maybe it was an orientation trip for a new guy.
I think some very, very smart people designed this campaign with the Dem spin machine in mind. We had Lanny Davis screaming that none of the Swift Vets were on the boat with John Kerry. Now we have two that came forward who were - and the Dems just spent nearly two weeks spinning for naught. So they'll spin for another two weeks, and then two more, and before you know it November is here and Kerry never have had the chance to define the terms of the campaign.
Rambo eruption BTTT
This keeps getting better and better.
Kerry was only there for four months. Was he there long enough to be anything other than the new guy?
Zing......this will leave a mark!
"O'Neill is just uncanny."
One gets the feeling that this was all planned like a military operation. "Nam-vets Revenge."
Kerry did not have his own command yet, hence he needed a supervisor on boat. At least that is how I understood it. Besides, it was not a Swift boat, it was a whaler.
. . .but can the media ignore this man?
It was in fact during Kerry's training period, before he was given a swift boat to command.
A normal person wouldn't think so.
Have you freepers seen the new ad on humaneventsonline? The Swifties are relentless. Go, Boys go.
They can't spin this guy away .....he was the former acting head of JAG.....this is one upright dude.
And that's exactly what it was.
That was my thought exactly.
Then I keep thinking "he can't keep up this pace for long" and "don't let it end."
All I can say is 'wow.'
What's the over/under on the number of days before Kerry blows his lid in public over this?
