Bear with me, today will be light. Im fine, and back from the Shrine for a third time in three days and Im just too tired to write too much right now. My apologies.
But at least I was in the Shrine when the pilgrims made it in. Hundreds, thousands of them flooded the war zone and turned what was a burned out neighborhood into something almost festive assuming you find RPGs cool (like I do.)
Anyway, I think this cease-fire is actually working. Its giving the Mahdi militiamen time to leave the area and vacate the Shrine. Well see, obviously. Theres no way to ever be sure or anything in this place.
Going to rest a little now. Will try to blog more about today later.
You may not like this guy or what he reports, but its a rare inside look, and not what you might expect.
I guess if that's your definition of working. I'd say it was giving the murderous thugs time to get away. They'll be back or will pop up to kill Americans and Iraqies somewhere else. Can't keep a bad thug down, unless you kill him.
Do you think that I wrote this?
Why there is ANY ingress/egress baffles me. This "holy place" should have been under totally encircled starvation lockdown five weeks ago...."journalists" included.
Prayers for our Guys in the midst of it all!
I have no evidence of this, just a hunch.
I susptect that its because we can take a death or two a day without the nation being outraged. If we take 20 to lock this shrine down, we turn against the war. Just my guess.
