1) When was the last time we heard from bin Laden? Has he staged an attack on US soil in the three years since the War began?

2) Because he was afraid the comission would politicize the attacks and become a divisive distraction, which is EXACTLY what happened.

3) Suggestions that ANYBODY could have anticipated and prevented this attack are both ignorant and odiously partisan. The previous admistration did NOTHING for 8 years. Were they asleep?

4) The tax cut brought us out of a recession. This positive outweighs any deficeit negatives.

5) NYers who claim that they did not get their reliefe money fast enough give the rest of us a bad name. I worked in the WTC. I lost several friends, one family member and my job after Sept 11th. I did not ask of one cent from the government. Where's your pride Wayne? Your complaint is that Bush didn't give enough?

6) We NYers revel in the idea that our city is the center of the universe, but the people of Oklahoma City can tell you that potential targets range from sea to shining sea. This charge is asinine.

7) And Commander In Chief's primary concern in the week after the worst attack in our nation's history ought to have been air quality? This is the kind of naivete that makes our enemies have no respect for us.

8) A simple fact of life Wayne: We are at war and emerging from a recession. You can't criticize the President for defeceits on the one hand and call for more government spending on the other.

9) I can't help but wondering if you live in a subsidized apartment yourself Wayne, but I'm too polite to ask.

10) Since the very nations we are concerned about (Iran, South Korea) have demonstrated that they have no intention of honoring such treaties they are useless and irrelevant.

Wayne is in desperate need of a brain transplant, because the one he has is out of commission.

You know.. I just read your point respoinses to the Village Vice spouter Barret, and I can't add anything to them.
You said pretty much everything Icould think of.

So I'll wander off and see if I can come up with anything else to respond to him with.

I'd say New York's election of their Jr. Senator a few years ago makes all these 10 "point" pale in comparison.

To all New Yorkers: first - get rid of the scum you elected for the senate, then we'll recognize your gripes.

But not until then.

I probably get flamed for that but I would like to see someone come up with a rebuttal to this. Why was funding for police and firefighters not more? Is it a city/state issue? etc.etc.

Some of these points need addressing in my mind. Just saying it's a stupid left wing article doesn't make sense to me.

The 10 Ways Bush Screwed New York

And 1,095 ways Bush saved NY. If Bush were not the man in charge right now, there would be no NY.
They should quit whining, and show some appreciation and respect for the man saving their sorry assess.

Funny, there's no mention of the one way Clinton screwed New York by castrating the intelligence community...

I love these stories where some ultra-left winger has taken a few facts and built an ant-Bush conspiracy. My bet is that this writer is himself or is writing for, a union member, a very liberal union.

Some of these NYC liberal unions, the public school teachers' union, are so liberal as to be socialists or even worse. There is NOTHING that a Republican could possibly do (in his duties as President, numb-nuts!) that would please these guys. As a VV employee, the guy is, of course, a NYC liberal union member, but he's working for some outfit even further left.

Funding for cops and firmen (PC notwithstanding, there are no firewomen who run into buildings) is done on the state and local levels and (in terms of the PA police) on a bipartisan level between the states of NY & NJ, so any criticisms of Bush here (like the one Kerry made in his acceptance speech) are unfounded.

If they are to be addressed at all, the obvious question would be: "Would more funding have saved a single life on 9/11?" I doubt it.

And, while everybody loves firemen and appreciates their service and sacrifice, the fact remains that they are not in fact underfunded. Firemen deserve every penny that they are paid, but since the FDNY has always been in the position of turning away applicants it is impossible to make the case that firemen do not earn enough.

Hillary Clinton was elected because her Republican opponent dropped out weeks before the election. If he runs against her in '06, she will lose in a landslide.

I woke up in a great mood, and I will be going fishing for the rest of the day.

So I decided to get my talons into the maggots early today.

A relative who is a lurker on Free Republic said the same thing. She sent me the link of what I had posted today.

I emailed her back and said that I had so little time and so many targets of opportunity to strike before I left for the day.

Wayne Barrett whines enough to drown out the squeal from the streetcars here in San Francisco. He makes New Yorkers look bad. While there are a lot like him, we know there are more that will earn their own way, continue to build their great city, and look to the Federal government for National defense and international trade issues rather than the dole.

I saw ten digits posted, but when do we get to the ways Bush screwed NY?

For a city that lost 10 percent of its tax base, it's doing pretty well. My son just enrolled in CUNY to finish his architecture degree. Tuition is way up and grants are way down, but it's still the cheapest education in the country.

My daughter just got a good entry-level job in construction management after two weeks of looking. Construction is booming.

---Bush has also de-funded the SAFER program even after Congress passed it—blocking NYC from hiring more firefighters—and limited equipment purchases under the FIRE program to a puny cap of $750,000, putting NY's allocation on a par with Poland, Ohio's, with Montana getting $9 per capita for federal firefighter aid and NYC nine cents.---

So? Montana is lot more valuable than NYC.

Ten Way in which the Village Voice could actually be considered useful:

1. Lining birdcages
2. Training puppies
3. Wrapping fish
4. Cleaning up minor, household spills
5. Used as kindling
6. To insulate a homeless person's shoes
7. Toilet paper
8. Garbage can liner
9. Wrapping glassware prior to moving out of New York to avoid the idiocy that passes for reasoned discourse there (like I did).
10. As a handy guide of WHAT NOT to do, think, say, act, eat, attend or otherwise admit exists, in New York City.

“NYC is getting $61 million less in federal public-safety subsidies than it did before our cops became America's front line.“

Hey Mr. Barrett, I, as a citizen of the state of Louisiana don't get one iota of protection from your police force. Why should I be required to pay for it through my federal taxes? F' off you socialist bastard!

I probably get flamed for that but I would like to see someone come up with a rebuttal to this. Why was funding for police and firefighters not more? Is it a city/state issue? etc.etc.

Millions and millions of dollars were donated by the good people of this country to NY to help with anything they needed.
Unfortunately, the "charity" organizations used the money for their own agenda. The Red cross used money for homosexual tolerance and gun control. Hillary wanted money to go to those who had homosexual sex with anyone who died in the buildings. Hardly any of the money went to seriously help those in NY who needed it.
The firefighters and police were doing their jobs. Those jobs pay a certain wage. That's what they've chosen as a career. Monies could have gone to them as a reward for bravery, but the "charities" felt their causes were more important.
This is not Bush's problem. The money was there. Lots of it. The American people supplied more than enough funding, but as usual, charitable donations never made it to needy.
