"The newspaper's analysis indicates Kerry "has been nicked by attacks on his service in Vietnam.""
Does he get another Purple Heart for this?

I think the LA Times polls have been thoroughly discredited. I won't change my tune just because they show my candidate ahead.
Since I suspect many of their polls are politically motivated, I suspect this one is so they can claim "no bounce" after they release their post-convention poll.

Of course, it would be even better if these were likely voters that were polled.

And remember, this is the LA Times. The last poll was controversial because they oversampled Democrats. If this is true with this poll, then Bush must be way ahead. All supposing that this poll is true of course.
Oh yeah, and note, registered voters. NOT likely voters.

While just 3% of voters who call themselves Republicans say they will vote for Kerry, Bush is drawing 15% just over one-seventh of all Democrats, and fully one-fifth 20% of Democrats who consider themselves moderate or conservative, the poll foundBush Democrats!

After adjusting for media bias, Bush has a 12 point lead.

According to Frank (lastname) of the Gallup organization during a CSPAN televised seminar last Friday to reporters, polls of "likely" voters will trend 4-6% higher for republicans compared to polls of "registered" voters.

The newspaper's analysis indicates Kerry "has been nicked by attacks on his service in Vietnam." "You should put some ice on that."

The newspaper's analysis indicates Kerry "has been nicked by attacks on his service in Vietnam." Nicked, hell! He's been down in every state since the ads started playing. All the movement is Bush now. Every state!

It was around this time 16 years ago that the wheels started falling off the Dukakis campaign. Remember that up until mid-August, Dukakis was ahead in the polls.
I get that same feeling this time around with Kerry. The DNC convention was for all practicable purposes a bust, providing no significant bounce for Kerry. Like Lloyd Bentsen before him, John Edwards brings nothing to the ticket - not even his home state. Once again we have an uptight Massachusetts liberal running with a pseudo-Southerner.
Now we have another Bush heading into the RNC convention with a little momentum.
