Taking a chance here: Skip the federal crime/idiot dad perpective - what if he was so disconsolate that he only hoped to join his son in heaven - using a marine van? He was IN the van on fire - I don't think he planned to survive. I only hope the marines were not badly injured saving him.

Yes I agree. The grief is overwelming. These hacks on this thread have no heart. Most have seldom experienced death close to the heart. For these few heartless bloggers on this threat. Time to take your meds.

Can we separate the various issues here? That would make for a better discussion.

Regarding the loss of the son: yes, that is unspeakably tragic, and I sympathize with the gentleman. No one will hear any flippant comments from me in this regard.

Regarding the burning of the van: this action is irresponsible (I am judging the ACTION, not the PERSON).

Can a person hold both of these views at the same time? I believe so.
