We can and perhaps all should, send Mr. Boyd a Kerry 'quote'. . .or a Kerry example.
In re your naive or more likely disingenous argument that this large newspaper is probably even handed , and would alternatively not wish to distribute or even view a political cartoon which was harsh torwards Pres Bush. Dave your turnip truck doesn't even know that you fell off, better start walking.
Were you submitting this? I don't think that's how they tell you to do it. What you did is closer to spamming.
You didn't respond right then and there. They win, you lose.
That's how they will report it; even if you DO respond tomorrow as you said you would.
What I'm observing, is the fact that even if you came up with the most ingenious and truthful reply possible, in their minds they've already won, and your response would be portrayed as petulant at best.
Personally, I believe Tonkin's supplied links are the best reply, and I'd advise using that one.
Eighty-five thousand-plus hits is a phenomenal response! But to think that any serious exchange with these people is counter-productive; because in their inflexible Leftist mindset, they've already won, you're banned from their world, and the subject's closed.
But, what I WOULD suggest is, keep the email exchange, no matter what the replies, and generously spread them throughout the blogosphere! You've earend fame and name recognition, not just on FR - So spread the word!
I regret that you misunderstood what I wrote, so I'll keep trying - like I know you will!
Congratulations!! It proves that your talent has HIT HOME. Linda, we love you so to hell with the MST. zip and mrs zip

Here you go, Jim
I wanted to get the exact wording, not just quote Kerry off the top of my head.
John Kerry, 1971 testimony, Senate Foreign Relations Committee:
"I would like to talk on behalf of all those veterans and say that several months ago in Detroit we had an investigation at which over 150 honorably discharged, and many very highly decorated, veterans testified to war crimes committed in Southeast Asia. These were not isolated incidents but crimes committed on a day-to-day basis with the full awareness of officers at all levels of command. It is impossible to describe to you exactly what did happen in Detroit - the emotions in the room and the feelings of the men who were reliving their experiences in Vietnam. They relived the absolute horror of what this country, in a sense, made them do. They told stories that at times they had personally raped, cut off ears, cut off heads, taped wires from portable telephones to human genitals and turned up the power, cut off limbs, blown up bodies, randomly shot at civilians, razed villages in fashion reminiscent of Ghengis Khan, shot cattle and dogs for fun, poisoned food stocks, and generally ravaged the countryside of South Vietnam in addition to the normal ravage of war and the normal and very particular ravaging which is done by the applied bombing power of this country. We call this investigation the Winter Soldier Investigation.
Point proven. My claim supported.

thanks for fixing that link!
I dunno. Not acknowledging and not printing my editorials is a pretty clear-cut way of saying that they think they suck. Hell, for all I know, they may see my name on the "Return To" line and throw them in the circular file.
Sir! You are kind. Thanks. Hey -- see comment #112. I did respond to Boyd.
I agree with you on that point forcing somebody to publish something in their newspaper would be violating their free speech.
If he was using legal (meaning lawyers) or coercive means to prevent the strip from being written, distributed, or published elsewhere he would have violeted the autor's free speech.
Oh, I feel better now, I have two 19" Viewsonic Gorgeous displays, three computers driving them... and lots of storage ....HEHEHE!
Great cartoon ... and I bet you are psyched about being censored! Probably see the tribune in your next cartoon!! Go girl! you are great!!
Way to go!
