Former Georgia Senator Max Cleland, left, and former Green Beret Lt. Jim Rassmann, center, approach a Secret Service Agent, right, on station at the check point to the entrance of President Bush (news - web sites)'s ranch Wednesday Aug. 25, 2004 in Crawford, Texas. Cleland tried to deliver a letter protesting ads challenging John Kerry (news - web sites)'s Vietnam service to President Bush at his Texas ranch Wednesday, but the Secret Service stopped Cleland short of his goal. Where do I type this? (site?)
The tv coverage of this incident is getting my bp up. There's the blowhard Cleland demanding that the President of the US "put up or shut up." I hope the President smacks them down, Cleland and the cowardly fraud who put him up to it.
By showing up?!?!?! Can there be any greater guarantee of a picture making the news than by placing the President in the middle of it?! Sorry, but this was pathetic political theater. The President served himself and his office by remaining above it.
You type all that stuff when you are making a comment. The first thing you type is the < img src=" part, and then the rest.
ROFTL...
Yes, I got bombarded today with hateful emails from my angry commie sister about this stunt.
I can tell you, I have been to Crawford when Bush is in town, and you can't even STOP on the road to his ranch. Secret Service and cameras are everywhere. You cannot just pull up to the president's ranch and insist on seeing him~ The Democraps know that. It is VERY HIGH security there.
I like your quote about Congress. I was thinking today about how Communistic the Democrat party is becoming! No guns, no free speech, what is next for them to try to take away?
Just TRY to show up any where near the Bush ranch and TRY to get in to see the president. There are signs posted along the road that goes out to the ranch NO STOPPING on the road. It is HIGH security like the White House. This guy was NOT thinking!
Looks like the President took our advice :)))
Disagree. George W. Bush is the President of the United States. Thugs and publicity whores don't get access to him upon demand--GWB did the right thing, at the right time.
Yes they know that. You want to see the President you make a appointment. Heck you want to see a ex-President you better make a appointment. If some Republican tried to deliver some letters directly to Clinton they would be turned back or in jail as well.

Who paid for Cleland's ticket? Possibly MoveOn?
Is "that ad" still running? I thought SWVT replaced it with the 2nd ad, which points to Kerry's after war stunts. On what basis would Rassman and Cleland be protesting the 2nd ad? They weren't involved in, or witness to, those despicable activities, were they?
One thing, I guess, hasn't sunken into that shrunken head of kerry's: he can't turn this thing around. He doesn't have the power to do it. Even if President Bush is viewed as having given this a wink and a nod (why wouldn't he, after all the vitriol they heaped on him?), kerry's fragging is nearly complete, and very, very few people have become attached to kerry throughout this whole ordeal. They aren't going to go running into his arms, declaring:
'john kerry, he's our man,
shout his name as loud as you can.'
In '71 kerry, like Pilate, sealed his fate. He can't prove the Swifties are liars; they have an appealing demeanor; they are immensely believable.
By betraying his brethren in arms, kerry contravened the laws of martial nature, that have existed since the dawn of Man, these Swifties are going to disembowel him, and I doubt we'll hear the Braveheart cry of "Freeeeeedoooooom!"
The hell he doesn't! He's playing both ends against the middle for maximum personal political gain. I wouldn't trust him a millimeter.
I hope Cleland went directly to a room, somewhere, and took a shower. I sure felt as if I needed one after that display. Shameful of Cleland, and shameful of Kerry to send the poor, dumb bastard on the mission.
YIKES I had no idea that was the reason WE weren't invited in for tea.... "Thugs and publicity whores don't get access to him upon demand..."
Just kidding, I know what you meant~
