Letter to President George W. Bush:
This campaign has seen a stunning double standard emerge between the media's focus on the activities of 527's aligned with John Kerry and those opposed to him.
I cannot begin to express my sadness that my legal representations have become a distraction from the critical issues at hand in this election.
I feel that I cannot let that continue, so I have decided to resign as National Counsel to your campaign to ensure that the giving of legal advice to decorated military veterans, which was entirely within the boundaries of the law, does not distract from the real issues upon which you and the country should be focusing.

just damn.
Straight from the horse's mouth.
In this election, the media IS the issue.
They are openly partisan.
Great statement. Ok skerry where are your campaigns resignations.
and despite the picture that Ginsburg drew of the double standard the obtuse Effin' STILL doesn't get it.
Ok. Now let's sit back and watch how the rats spin this...
What a shame. But ofcourse, we'll get a similar response from all those in the kerry/moveon.org cabal.
Brutal. He dropped the gauntlet on MSM. Let's see if this ends up on the lips of Christine Matthews tonight...
Oh wait -- Abu Graib. I forgot.
At least now we are fighting on a semi even playing field..
And your point is...
"unfortunate" connections to the Kerry campaign are quietly scrubbed clean all the time. Sandy Berger and links to Joe wilsons website come to mind.
The GOP surenders again! Why?
National Review editor Rich Lowry thinks this was a mistake. He wrote on the Corner a short time ago, "This is disastrously stupid in my opinionimplies guilt for something and fuels more Bush-coordination stories."
++ : )
But it also takes the issue off the table right away. (possibly that Kerry was going use on a 60 Minutes mea culpa interview this weekend?)
