August 25, 2004 -- ATTENTION assistants of high-profile network news stars: You and your bosses are simple prey for Sacha Baron Cohen — better known as goofy British rapper/TV host Ali G.
The latest newsman to fall victim to Ali G's inane questions is "60 Minutes" curmudgeon Andy Rooney, who lost his temper and tossed Ali G from his office while the rapper (who is white) accused him of being a racist — a sensitive subject with Rooney.
The surreal segment aired during the end credits on last Sunday's episode on HBO.
To land Rooney for the show, "Ali G" producers bypassed CBS News' usually cautious press department and contacted Rooney's assistant directly.

Rooney needs to be taken down a few notches. His shtick got old around 1978. It's very amusing that he can dish it out but can't take it.
The angriest I ever managed to make my token liberal acquaintance (she's so liberal that she HATES John Kerry and LOVES Howard Dean) was when I accused her of being racist via her beliefs in Affirmative Action and her constantly trying to convince me that "The Man" owed me something because I was a minority.

Rooney, being the grumpy old man that he is walked out and told him to read a book on English.
This was one of Ali G's funniest interviews ever, especially when he asked Rooney if he was throwing him out "because I is black". (Ali G is a white character who dresses as a "gangsta"). Rooney looks bewiidered and says "You're black". Ali G, not breaking character goes "Yeah, I is".

This didn't do it. Why is this story news? Some idiot schedules an interview with a big shot, says something stupid, and gets thrown out. People, wake up and realize that this only means more gates around the ivory tower.

Andy Rooney suspended for racist comments
February 8th 1990
Andy Rooney, a CBS "60 Minutes" commentator, received a 90-day suspension from work because of racist remarks about African Americans attributed to him by Chris Bull, a New York-based reporter for "The Advocate," a bi-weekly national gay & lesbian newsmagazine published in Los Angeles. Bull quoted Rooney as having said during an interview: "I've believed all along that most people are born with equal intelligence, but Blacks have watered down thier genes because the less intelligent ones are the ones that have the chidlren. They drop out of school early, do drugs, and get pregnant."
