The Threat Matrix

The title refers to a daily report given to the president of the United States detailing the most serious terrorist threats against the country. To tackle those threats, the government has formed a top-notch task force to infiltrate the terror cells and cut off the danger.

"Every morning, the president receives a list of the top ten terrorist threats - this list is known as the threat matrix."

We here at FR are trying to be in conjunction with the daily reports around the world that involve threats. We try to provide a storehouse of information that takes hours of research.

High alert after Russia jet crash

Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the state security services, the FSB, to probe a plane crash, and another missing plane.

One plane with 42 people on board went down in the Tula region south of the capital, Moscow.

Meanwhile, air controllers say they lost contact with a second plane with 44 passengers on board, near the southern city of Rostov-on-Don.

stories. The report on Butler was under the article.

It is a newspaper site, I think.

I know this sounds horrible to say, but I wish al qaeda would go ahead and attempt an attack -- one that we will totally thwart of course -- so that we can relax just a wee little bit... Now Tom Ridge says the threat is continued to January. Arg!

I know the war on terror is for a good, long time, but we really are waiting for the other shoe to drop, and it just gets pushed back and back and back...

On the other hand, I am glad DHS is working with local community groups.

Ruth, the link with that tomb bomb article still doesn't show that particular article you mention. At least I cannot see it listed there. It is hiding from me. But as I was searching around there, I did find the article listed below!

Cross dressing terrorists are the latest security threat

Washington, Aug 22 (ANI): Anti-terrorism authorities in America are asking citizens to keep a look out for any cross-dressing males, as they could be a threat to the nation.

According to the National Enquirer, security officials have recently observed a new trend, that of insurgents from countries like Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean, who dress up as women to throw off the police.

Intelligence agencies have also found evidence that the terrorists have a link to terrorist organisations like Hamas and Al Queda. One such group is based on the East Coast.

Officials are now asking the general public to keep their eyes and ears open as these terrorists are rumoured to be scouting malls, New York's Trump Tower, the Sears Tower in Chicago, and the Liberty Bell in Philadelphia.

Federal officers have also started carrying women's clothing in order to be able to beat the terrorists at their own game. "Federal officers are now carrying other gender clothes for a quick change in order to follow suspects who cross-dress in malls when they are up to no good," the report quoted an intelligence officer as saying.

"We are relying on an aware public to keep their eyes open and be keenly vigilant of any suspicious activities in their own locales," another official added. (ANI)

Yes, Ruth. I agree and this is what I first thought, too. To be honest, I was influenced by at least 2 Arab experts who said something to that effect this afternoon. One was on FoxNews, the other was on msnbc I believe it was. The speakers felt that the al zawahiri release was more of a "rallying call" and "morale booster" based on the little bit that was released. But they both inferred that they also felt it did not contain a "go signal" or attack trigger.

That was the part that I thought was strange, since al jazeera had not released the tape in its entirety. How can they be so sure? Did they get a pre-al jazeera airing copy off the web somewhere? It is possible; I guess we will soon find out. But I do not trust the networks or the Feds to level with us. Why should they, right? But Laura will have the translation and we will find out all that they may want to hide from us if there is anything else there. Maybe there really isn't any "there" there.

Night (my alarm clock goes off in 1 hour and 15 minutes)! I think I'll need to borrow some of your googling adrenalin at that time to make it through the day!

GFA MISSIONARIES HELD HOSTAGE TO BE KILLED WITHIN 48 HOURS

BIHAR, INDIA  (ANS) -- Anti-Christian elements in Bihar have captured, severely beaten and are threatening to kill Gospel For Asia (GFA) native missionary Pastor Manrathan and his wife. GFA Bible woman Sarita is also being held hostage.

An anti-Christian mob from six villages holds the Gospel workers tied to a sacred tree, demanding 25,000 rupees as a ransom for desecrating their village with the Gospel. If the exorbitant amount is not received within 48 hours, they plan to kill the missionaries as a sacrifice to their deities.

“There are no police in the isolated area to intervene. GFA leaders are fervently praying for wisdom on how they can best help the situation,” said K.P. Yohannan, GFA’s president.

“The anti-Christian group spearheading the incident is the same one that burned missionary Graham Staines and his two children alive in Orissa several years ago. In recent years a number of GFA missionaries serving in their native India have been brutally murdered for sharing their faith as well."

Pastor Manrathan’s village has proven extremely dangerous for Christian workers, yet God has blessed his courage and commitment. They recently planted a church in this remote area of North India.

“A few weeks ago, Pastor Manrathan held a service where new believers publicly proclaimed their Christian faith. It was a significant time for the congregation. One new believer, a tribal person, renounced his old faith publicly by turning away from everything else to believe in God,” said Yohannan.

This act was brought to the attention of the whole village by his neighbors, who objected to his conversion.

“In no time, the news of this event spread to six surrounding villages. Soon a large mob descended on the small congregation of new believers and began to beat them.”

Pastor Manrathan, his wife and Sarita were taken from the church, beaten mercilessly and tied to a tree, Yohannan said.

“No one was allowed to leave the village, to prevent others from hearing of the beatings. Only yesterday, one of the believers escaped with the news.

“Your urgent prayers for the lives of these missionaries are needed. Pray the Lord will give them strength and that His presence would be real to them during this time of trial and persecution. Pray also for endurance and boldness. We will let you know as we receive further news.”

I understand you feelings. Some of the ones that I found were associated with small colleges near me, and listed under titles like "Islamic Learning Center". So I would venture to guess that they are being funded by state or governmental money. Others were listed as small grocery or food stores. Since I am in a suburban area there weren't very many; but I can imagine what I would find if I were to check the more urban areas.

While some of the ties are a little weak, I think you can plausibly argue that every taped statement Zawahiri has made since 1998 is tied to some type of actual or attempted terrorist attack.

Some of the less obvious ties could be linked to attacks that were supposed to take place, but didn't for some reason or another, which we will never hear about, such as secret LEO/Military interdiction.

I would be very surprised if Bin Laden doesn't surface on a tape today, either in audio or video format. It may be that he is on a portion of the tape shown by Al-Jazeera yesterday. I think I am right in saying that for the past two years he has appeared on the eve of 9/11, and usually at around 2-3p.m EST.

If nothing is released by Bin Laden, I think it says a lot about who is in control of al-qaeda now.

In case you haven't noticed, healthy debate promotes truth and honesty, and one need look no further than the recent scandal involving CBS, 60 Minutes, and Dan Blather to understand this very basic point. Now please, give up the Sean Crusade for the sake of the TM.
