The intense exercise burns off too much fat. That is why they are not shapely from the waist up.

Is there some International Beach Volleyball Federation rule that no female bigger than an a-cup can participate?

Breasts are mostly fatty tissue. A woman without a visible ounce of fat anywhere is unlikely to have large breasts without medical enhancement, and an olympic athlete is not going to weigh herself down unnecessarily

Girls wrestling. (yeah, go ahead, give me hell for that, but girls wrestling for sport is weird).

especially without jello or hot oil present

Badminton isn't easy either but it should never be considered a serious sport.

Then what is it?

As a game of action and skill it makes baseball look like a knitting circle. It's mesmerizingly exciting to watch .... no matter what the sex of the sport.

I suppose you think golf is a sport.

And if you had a clue, you could read why they all wear what they wear: The traditional gym volleyball clothing is fine for larger teams, but with the incredible amount of running and jumping, they need something without alot of extra material to catch their hands as they're going for the ball.

I guess that explains why the men also wear bikinis in this event? NOT.

I couldn't care less about the "morality" of the outfits. They can wear whatever they want. Let's just not pretend that there's some sort of athletic necessity to the teeny-weeny bikinis tight enough to be a second skin, and which are worn only by the women. They're dressing like that to attract eyeballs, period.

Thanks for the ping.

However, all Olympics competitions are not equal. Given that women's beach volleyball is a recognized event, and Misty May and Kerri Walsh beat all other teams, I think they earned and deserve their gold medal, and our respect and support. Go USA!

This might be fun to watch, but it most definitely is NOT a sport.

If it has competition between two or more teams or individuals, and the winner is determined by that head to head competition, then it is a sport. Examples: Water polo, volleyball, tennis, softball, baseball, basketball, auto racing, football, lacrosse, hockey, soccer (OK it's boring), rugby, Aussie football, polo, golf (fun to play, boring to watch),billiards, handball, squash, jai-alai, field hockey (again, boring), motocross, speed skating, etc. If it has competition between two or more teams or individuals, and the outcome is determined by a judge's score, then it is not a sport, it is a pastime. Examples: gymnastics, figure skating, diving, ice dancing, ballroom dancing, synchronized swimming or diving, horse jumping (where the horse jumps obstacles), bodybuilding, etc.

Both players must be able to perform most of the volleyball skills - passing, setting, hitting and digging. One of them doesn't have to be able to block. Neither one has to be able to serve, although that's a plus.

Compare that to indoor volleyball, where some players only hit, while others only set.

Badminton is a sport, too, btw.

Does it require a very high level of athletic ability to perform at the top levels?

If so, it's a sport. If not, it's a skill.
