His last words were: "Why did they make that horrible movie with Nick Cage? Why?"

Sanache had little opportunity to use his language skills after being shipped to North Africa because of the limited numbers of the Meskwakis and the short range of walkie-talkies. Sanache was captured just five months after he arrived in North Africa and spent 28 months as a prisoner of war.

Sounds like a very honorable man. Article lacks any personal information about him.

From what I understand there were more than just the Navaho code talkers. I've even heard that there were Sioux code talkers. But I have no verification of that. Some of these men evidently served in Europe against the Nazis.

Sioux, Comanche, Choctaw?

Meskwaki?!?

WWI!?!

Guess the Navajo just have better P.R. people. I had no idea there was so much more to the story. Thanks for posting.

In any case, bless them all.

BTW: The wife & I thought the movie sucked big time as 'the story of the Windtalkers,' though it was pretty decent as the 'story of A Windtalker.'
