You are incorrect. Kennedy sent only Special Forces advisors to Vietnam. One of them was a good friend of mine and he came
back from 'Nam and working with the hill country people [Montanyards (Sp?)] in 1962. Lyndon Johnson used the
"Fake Gulf of Tonkin Incident" to get the U.S. into the war with thousands of troops. Johnson was even more of liar than Clinton.

Truman committed to support the French, then Ike sent special forces, then Kennedy, following his capitulation to Khrushchev, sent the first regular troops to Vietnam, Johnson promised in '64 that he would withdraw the troops if elected, many in my squadron voted for him for that reason, I voted for Goldwater...rto
