My late father was drafted in January, 1946, and served in Okinawa, where either no walls or one wall was standing in the capital city of Naha (population of 250,000 according to him). He finished his service, went to college on the GI Bill and ROTC, and took a commission in the Nat'l Guard and later the Army Reserve. He spent a year of active duty during the Berlin Crisis of 1961 (construction of the Berlin Wall). He retired at the rank of major after putting in twenty years. When I was young, we had very few family vacations, as he was an executive in a small ad agency which could not afford for him to take two weeks off for summer camp AND two weeks of vacation.
He said that one of the reasons why he stayed in the Army was because he did not want to see destruction such as he witnessed on Okinawa visited upon the USofA (fortunately, he died before the destruction of 9-11).
And now this twit has the audacity to disparage the service of reservists!!! How dare these people!!!!!
