Absolutely unfair. It takes a great deal of skill and animal cunning to hang over the side of the ship suspended in a bosun's chair with a chipping hammer in one hand, knocking off the scales of Fe2O4. And when you want a coffee break, you have to check up and down the rail to see if the bosun is eyeballing you before you inadvertently drop your hammer, so you have to be hoist back on deck so you can go back below and get another hammer. Couple of cups of coffee, smoke a few ciggies, time flies on these jobs for the highly skilled. I wish I'd had the contract for those chipping hammers, I'd be rich now.
