If releasing Kerry's military records would end the damage to Kerry, it would have been done a long time ago.
Using Kerry's four months in Vietnam as the centerpiece of his campaign was a major strategic blunder. Kerry thought his posing as a war hero gave him a Kevlar vest protecting him from criticism. Kerry thought his side could bully anyone attacking him on his military service and make such an attack backfire to Kerry's advantage and appear horribly unfair. He succeeded in doing this in his past Senate campaigns. Unfortunately he was attacked this time from the flank. His opponent, Bush, didn't make the charge.
Nobody but the Swiftboat guys could have effectively made this case and, boy, have they!
Amazing also, while they are slandering Vice President Cheney, not a word about Edward's service to his Country.
