O'Neill Dares Kerry: 'Sue Me'

Swiftboat Veterans for the Truth spokesman John O'Neill dared Sen. John Kerry on Sunday to sue him for libel if, as Kerry's presidential campaign maintains, key claims in O'Neill's book "Unifit for Command" are not true.

"I invite him to sue me for libel," O'Neill, who co-authored the overnight bestseller with Jerome Corsi, told WABC Radio's Monica Crowley. "If he was actually in Cambodia on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day he should sue me. If, in fact, those other five [Swift]boats, on March the 13, [1969], if they all fled like he did, instead of staying like he knows they did, he should sue me."

O'Neill continued:

"If he didn't wound himself with a grenade - causing sort of a rice-fanny wound - and then reported it to the Navy as a water mine - if he didn't do that on March 13th should sue me."

O'Neill issued the challenge after noting that Kerry's campaign has gone to extraordinary lengths to supress the information in "Unfit for Command."

"On our first [Swiftvet] ad, he had two huge lawfirms send letters to every [TV] station, threatening to sue the stations themselves" if they ran the ad, the former Swiftboat commander told Crowley.

"The next thing he did was challenge the book's publisher, Regnery, indicating he would sue them if they continued printing the book," he added.

The bestselling author said that while Regnery declined to stop printing "Unfit," it offered to republish Kerry's 1971 book "The New Soldier," which chronicles the top Democrat's anti-war protests with a group bankrolled by Jane Fonda.

Kerry has declined to have "New Solidier" republished over the years and reportedly bought up most of the available copies in 1972, after his opponent in a congressional race used it to paint him as anti-American.

Kerry was into Fanny Rice? (Or vice versa?)
I didn't know that.

You didn't perhaps mean Fanny Brice, did you?

Baby Snooks . . . LOL

Complain if you want, but it is simply a fact that overly vicious negativity turns many people off (like my Republican mother), as the Clinton impeachment showed. The medals and the combat record questioning seems to be a case of some people's word against other people's word, and we may never know the full truth, and people will just be inclined to believe whoever they trust more initially. I think the Swift Vets should focus more on the Senate testimony (blanket accusation of war crimes) and the Cambodia discrepancy.

Uh oh, looks like Kerry is about out of options. After publicly declaring, “Bring it on,” in regards to challenging his Vietnam service, Kerry is now going to have to duck and cover. He’s been openly challenged. What does he do now? He can’t take up the challenge, that’s for sure.

Don't worry, Kerry won't sue.

But as soon as the lawsuit is filed, O'Neil could start discovery and subpoena Kerry's military records.

Kerry isn't goint to let this happen.

That's why Kerry is doing his attack in a round about way, trying to tie the SwiftVets to the Bush campaign.

"The whole tone of the Swift Vets strikes me as nasty. I really think they are going to turn people off, even if they are right."

And the "whole tone" of John Kerry and the Dems strikes you as...civil??

Do yourself a favor -- put on your feety PJs and hide under the covers.

We'll ping you when it's safe to come out.

Yes, O'Neill knew what he was dealing with. I read somewhere that before he wrote the book, and before the group came out with their press conference, they had a weekend meeting where they hashed out all those issues.

These guys know what and who they're dealing with. They're all very brave .. and putting their lives on the line for America once again. True Americans are a different breed .. a fact most liberals simply cannot comprehend.

Sorry if your mother thinks speaking the truth is too negative.

She has my sympathy.

You can check the C-SPAN website and look through their listings. Just remember they quote the times in the Eastern time zone.

I checked Amazon and they have one or more on sale starting at $500. That is about $495.99 more than I would pay.

It would effectivly relieve Kerry of having to address anything IN or concerned with the lawsuit until AFTER the election.

But it wouldn't restrict O'Neill from addressing the issue.

So he and the Swiftees continue their ads and Kerry answers with, My lawyers have advised me...."?

Doesn't sound too good for Kerry.

I'm not complaining....it was you that was complaining that the Swift Vets are nasty. To quote you "overly vicious negativity turns many people off"....you don't believe that the kerry campaign and their minions have been negative. Time to take your head out of your butt.

I think you're just a troll that came here to whine.
