"A wise man doesn't straddle a barbed-wire fence."
I was worried about that, too, until last week when I ran into a colleague long known for his fervent, Liberal politics. He announced without prompting that he can't vote Democratic this election.
The pain and angst on his face was clearly visible. As a Jewish physician he had always worn his Liberal worldview and Green sympathies proudly on his sleeve and had looked down on "Rightwingers" (Republicans) with contempt. To be fair, he didn't seem to hate them as much as pity them for their Neanderthal views.
Kerry's picking a Trial Lawyer as VP, however, has made him decide to vote for "Anybody But Edwards" this year. He has also come to the sobering realization that his longtime heroes, the Democrats, don't really support Israel, and that his best allies in this country are actually Ecumenical Christians!
My fervent hope is that this type of epiphany is being played out among Limousine Liberals more than it has shown up in the polls so far.
I'm thinking of making a sign for my back window that says,
"We didn't suffer eight slimey years under the Clinton administration, just to give it back to them in FOUR!"
..................Vote Bush/Cheney'04......................

You make good points but I won't be surprised if the President gets a more significant bounce than Kerry managed.
I think there is a certain logic to the 50-50 numbers right now, thanks to the media the economy and Iraq are persistently presented with a negative spin. This has to have the effect of making voters uncertain and wanting that feeling to change. The problem for Kerry is that he didn't at all capture the voters imagination, there was an emotion for him to seize and he missed. Now the President will be up, with sound bites coming from household names like McCain, Rudy and Arnold. I think he has a good chance to reframe the country's view of these issues and capture their confidence.
John Kerry is either a "war hero" or a "war criminal"
Can't have it both ways.
John Kerry and War Crimes in Vietnam
He was in command of a Swift Boat
and ordered his men to do these things.
Listen to this 1971 audio clip in Kerry's own words.

John Kerry went before the Senate Committee on Foreign Relations in 1971
to accuse the United States military
of committing massive numbers of war crimes in Vietnam.
So my question is did Kerry lie about his "heroism" or the "atrocities" that he took part in?
Did he lie to his superiors in Dec 68 - March 69 to obtain his medals or did he lie in 1971?
And if he didn't lie then why didn't he report the crimes that he saw?
After all he was in command of a Swift Boat, not just a crew member following orders.
All John Kerry has to do is authorize the release of ALL of his military records.
OR admit that he lied in 1971.
Kerry made Vietnam the center of his campaign.
It's up to Kerry and Kerry only to set the record straight.
BEFORE NOV 2nd.
