If Bush denounces the SBVFT, he loses my vote and probably plenty of other veterans. It's too late to do it with credibility now. If he'd done it at the start SWVs would understand the political realities and continue to run the ads

IMHO, this is nothing but propagation of dim talking points. The President DID condemn ALL 527 ads. Ignore it if you like, but the MSM reported this many times over.

It would be illegal for the President to make any direct statement of ANY kind, to the Swifties.

I heard on the news a bit ago (XM Radio, America Right), that McCain made a statement that he was saddened by the kerry rhetoric.

You miss my point. If Bush would specifically denounce the SBVFT similar to what McCain did, I would view it as a lack of character and principle on Bush's part. These are decorated veterans who have a right to express their opinion. I know the SBVFT will run the ads regardless as a matter of principle and honor.
