Of course McCain will back Kerry on this. He already has. If this keeps up, he might boycott the convention. I don't like the guy but alienating him so publicly is going to hurt Bush big-time. The Swifties are ultimately going to help Kerry get elected.

Oh please, McCain will NOT boycott the convention. He's firmly on board with Bush and believe me, he knows what a fraud Kerry is. He's just trying to remain impartial. You might not like that, but he's not the enemy.

I said that all along. Bush should have denounced the ads in the beginning. He waited to see their effect. Big mistake because it's too late. If he denounced them the Swifties would have kept running them but Bush would be in the clear. Now his credibility is tied to theirs. Not to "swift"

Most of us despise McCain for attacking the right at the most inorpportune times. The Kerry campaign is sinking. Look around you.

I'm not too sure that McCain will back up Kerry with the new SBVFT ad. He can't, without slamming other POW's. I just don't think he will do that. He may remain silent, but I don't see him supporting Kerry on this one.

WoW! You're a "glass half empty" kind of conservative. Bush has said publicly that he disapproves the 527s, one of which is Swift Boat Vets. John O'Neill has also said that despite the Pres wanting them to stop the ads, they will continue. You need to stop reading the Dems spin, you get depressed.

So what should Bush do about it?

Your out of your mind... You sound like a democrat.

There's no way that the truth will hurt Bush.

You sound as panicky as your candidate, flailing around with all sorts of sideways rationalizations. Sorry. Too cute by half. Have a nice Nov. 2.

Yes but he only commented once and that was right after the first SwiftVets ad came out. He's been strangely-for him-quiet since then. While no fan of McCain's, I'm actually interested in hearing what he has to say about the second ad with the POWs. I'm thinking we'll hear some tired crap about all this being so long ago and he'll completely forget that Kerry was the one who kept rubbing our collective faces in it in the first place.

After all, McCain set himself up long ago as the quintessential expert on all things POW. I suppose there's no reason to think he'll change now. And he so loves being the darling of the media one can't help but think his sound bite will be one they can embrace and scream from the mountain top.

Until he thinks back to his POW days (after seeing fellow POWs in the commercial) and what additional torture he may have received due to Kerry's little stint before Congress.....

And just who is doing that? It's the Kerry people.

Being that mc cain is ALREADY ON RECORD in 1973 or so DENOUNCING kerry and the vvaw activities THE SAME WAY THE POWS IN THE SECOND SWIFT VETS AD DOES, IMHO, Mr."Gee I was a VN POW, so PLEASE DON'T BRING UP MY "VERY-MINOR-INCIDENT ON THE USS FORRESTAL", mc cain, better NOT have ANYTHING AT ALL NEGATIVE to say about the Swift Vets FOR THE REST OF HIS LIFE !!!

The first ad was really a "feint" -- each side has "evidence" and you can believe or disbelieve the switvets as to who is telling the truth. The second ad, Kerry's testimony in front of Congress attacking veterans as war criminals, is the "true" ad. Let Kerry et al. (i.e., crats and media) waste their ammunition and time protesting the first ad since the second ad is the one that is truly devastating since it is Kerry himself who is condemning vets as war criminals. There is no ambiguity, no he said/they said, no "fog of war" involved in the second ad.

I don't think McCain is going to go to bat for Kerry, to defend his calling our military war criminals. I just think McCain is not going to want to get involved. It is simply unimaginable that McCain will rise to Kerry's defense on that issue.

The first ad accomplished what it was meant to do. It is the second ad that is the coup de grace.

Kerry's already done. It's like the Titanic with the side ripped open. Many passengers think it can't sink, but it's sinking anyway.
