NEWARK, Aug. 20 (AP) - The authorities on Friday questioned the mental competence of a doctor who told reporters this week that he had had an affair with the man accusing Gov. James E. McGreevey of sexual harassment.

A state judge said he found a "pattern of aberrant behavior" and ordered a psychiatric evaluation for the doctor, David Miller, 51, who was arrested on Thursday night on unrelated charges, including impersonating an F.B.I. agent.

County law officers said their investigation had begun before Wednesday, when Dr. Miller told news organizations that he had had an affair with Golan Cipel, a former adviser to the governor.

Why would a DR. say, "I have no law enforcement responsibility in this country whatsoever." Insinuating that in ANOTHER country he would. So what does this suppose to mean?

I thought the National Association of Shrinks voted to declassify homosexuality as a mental disease.

It's funny how the media ran with this guy's story as evidence that Cipel was lying -- remember that he went to McGreevey's people first to tell him his story, and that's how the media heard about him. Yet it was obvious once he started talking that he is a loon.

One other thought on this -- the alleged reason that the media never wrote about the gay rumors about McGreevey was that they couldn't be proven. Yet here they give credence to some nutcase's allegations against Cipel, without doing any research about it, or even paying attention to the fact that Miller is a raving lunatic. Heck, they didn't even bother to verify that he was a college professor, something he claimed to be, but turned out to have lied about!

With a title like that, I was certain I'd see Howard Dean's name in here somewhere.
