I don't really know how I got on this ping list, but I think the Freeper who maintains it decided to put me on. Stated differently, I don't think you can sign yourself up, I believe the list maintainer has to add your FR userid to his list.

And if you've been on Freepmail since yesterday then you're two days ahead of me ....

And the second day is due to the international dateline right? I've read all 92 messages that were there and remarkably, not a single one was nasty.

Ping lists are usually maintained by individual Freepers. Many high-volume ping lists are very well-circulated and can give you a lot of information on certain topics. For instance, I belong to mhking's "Just Damn" absurdity ping list, NYer's Catholic ping, Joe Brower's Florida ping, and crushkerry's crushkerry.com update ping.

The freeper who maintains the ping list usually decides who gets on and off, but you can easily contact them and ask on or off with a FReepmail.
