This reminds me an encounter that I had a while back. I was waiting for my plane in Tyler, TX. There was a nice young man wearing cowboy boots and hat, a native american, and Muslim waiting very quietly next to me. This is the conversation that I overheard:
Muslim to the Indian: "Are you an Indian?"
Indian grunts: uhuh
Cowboy tips raises hat off eyes to take a look, legs crossed with his boots sticking out.
Muslim to the Indian: "I haven't seen many Indians around".
Indian grunts looking at the cowboy: "Once we were many, now we are few."
Cowboy looks up, and tried to go back to sleep.
Muslim: "Once we were few, now we are many.
Cowboy: "Yeah, but we haven't played Cowboy and Muslims yet.
"I prefer "Islamunist"."
I'd submit "turdban".
Scary enough that they are doing this, but now they want "alternative" terminology." Hmmmmm
