I just figured out why all this is happening. The reason is that Kerry was never properly vetted during the primary. Rush even said this would come back to haunt the dems, and at the time I was saying the same thing to myself and on this forum. After the Iowa primary the DNC and the press basically gave Kerry a free ride so that they could have their 'Anybody but Bush' guy.
He's totally unhinged, but someone somewhere will shut his fat trap up, he will meet his match.

Here is Chris Matthews' thinking on the subject:
He is proud that he joined the Peace Corps and states he explicitly did it to avoid the war.
He admires those who served over there AND those like himself who avoided it.
He assumes if a man wasn't over in Vietnam he purposely avoided it and if that man doesn't "admit" it, like he freely admits, then Matthews deems him a liar.
Hence, he flat out states that GWB joined the Texas Air National Guard to avoid going to Vietnam. No amount of presentation of fact and context will sway him off of this preposterous position.
So, to sum up; Chris thinks those who "own up" to avoiding the draft are due respect and those that actually went over there are due respect. Everybody else he feels free to trash.
Rush just played a clip from Spitball in order to set up Malkin's appearance.
It should be noted that in the previous segment Chris had spoken to Larry Thurlow via phone. Chris was calm and respectful at the beginning and I suspect he had been deluged with mail about his rude treatment of O'Neill. It didn't last and he wsa spitting mad by the end. I changed channels but I am sure that is why he was apoplectic by the time Malkin appeared in the studio.

New Dem. talking points.....Since the SwiftVets are on to a new ad the last one obviously didn't work. These people are laughable!
