Borders is only the retail arm of Amazon.com. Amazon has so many back orders for the book that shipments that were destined for retail shelves have been redirected to cover online orders. The people in the store just lied to you out of their own animus towards the Swifties.
Jeff Brazos supports this policy by Borders? Why????
Wrong
Borders and Walden are owned by Borders Group, Inc (BGP on the NYSE).
Amazon is owned by Amazon.com, Inc (AMZN on NASDAQ)
Borders, like several other companies, contracts with Amazon to handle their online sales. Among those others are Target, ToysRus, and Office Depot.
From Amazon's 2003 10-K "Third-Party Sellers We offer Amazon Marketplace and Merchants@ programs that enable third parties to integrate their products on our websites, allow customers to shop for products owned by third parties using our features and technologies, and allow individuals to complete transactions that include multiple sellers in a single checkout process. We are not the seller of record in these third-party seller transactions, but instead earn fixed fees, sales commissions, per-unit activity fees, or some combination thereof."
