The Los Angeles Times notes this morning that he Kerry campaign has hired former Clinton White House Press Secretary Joe Lockhart and Joel Johnson, a lobbyist who worked for President Clinton to help respond to the Swift Boat Veteran's attacks.
Group officials who discuss strategy on condition of anonymity said that the anti-Kerry group plans to hammer the Democrat for his war claims and protests after he left Vietnam, especially his claims that US soldiers committed war crimes.
The group are also arranging local veterans to criticize Kerry when he vists their states.
Aides said Kerry has been flooded with calls from concerned veterans, and a CBS poll released last night showed the senator losing significant support amongst those who served in the armed forces.
Instead of rebutting each charge, Kerry blamed Bush for sanctioning such highly personal attacks, though there is no evidence that the presdients campaign has any direct connections to the anti-Kerry group.

If I were a Swift Vet, I would now put a tape recorder on my phone, install video surveillence in my home, and carry a pocket tape recorder and video cam. Sadly, I would not be surprised at whatever the thugs who went after Clinton's women might do.

FNC just showed the ad again and I caught it; have also listened to it via the 'net. Kerry is toast. By his own words and deeds he is being brought down. He'll be lucky if the DNC lets him run for the Senate again.

Nah... to late for Hillary. The party would completely implode in an internal battle to replace Kerry at this late stage. But I think I'm becoming more convinced that Dubya is going to win this thing going away.
Kerry could take the time to specifically address the charges by the Swift Boat vets. He has not done so because he cannot. Instead he will do what the DNC always does - attack the messenger. And then the timing.
And has it not dawned on Kerry that he is attacking a group of people who are at least as decorated as he is? So we can't question Kerry but should question the Swift Boat vets?
He has painted himself into a corner that makes no sense.
Have you heard he is trying to get the book banned? That is shocking. The party of free speech is trying to get a book banned. Just think of it. I would love to see the ACLU jump into the fray on this one.
