There is a more generic overarching question that needs to be asked any time an increase in taxes is proposed, regardless of who would pay the taxes.

The question is this "Since any tax by government is a removal of money from free society, what exactly do you propose to have government do with the money that free society can not do better?"

There is no defensible argument to this question. Especially from a government that already consumes a third of its gnp on government expenditures and increases its debt load every year on top of that.
