COME ON NOW ... YOU REALLY SUPPORT THIS GUY?

COME ON NOW ... YOU REALLY SUPPORT THIS GUY?

My sympathies to my liberal Democratic Kerry-voting listeners. You must be scratching your heads this morning over some of The Poodle's latest blatherings.

A few days ago President Bush announced a major redeployment of American troops overseas. Bush said that troops would be withdrawn from both Europe and South Korea. Kerry, of course, being the expert that he is on defense matters and fighting in actual wars and carrying actual guns and all that, had to oppose the President's plans. So The Poodle steps in front of a VFW convention yesterday and delivers this line:

"Why are we withdrawing (he actually said 'withdrawring') unilaterally 12,000 troops from the Korean peninsula at the very time that we are negotiating with North Korea, a country that really has nuclear weapons. This is clearly the wrong signal to send at the wrong time." John Kerry, August 18, 2004

Well .. that would have been just fine, if it hadn't been for pesky things such as memories. Just 17 days earlier Kerry had something completely different to say about troop redeployment:

"I will have significant, enormous reductions in the level of troops ...In the Korean peninsula perhaps, in Europe perhaps." John Kerry, August 1, 2004

Man ... don't you just hate it when that happens?

And how many times did Kerry remind the VFW convention of his service in Vietnam? Sorry, we lost count.

"I tried thaton another college message board and I get anybody but Bush"

Don't you get it? This is the only reason that Bush is even still competitive. If the RATS had a half-way decent candidate, this would probably all be over now. Bush makes a lot of people even slightly to the right of center very nervous. This is not a result of his policies, but rather his near total lack of communication skills. He can't speak so that the whole nation can understand him, leave alone people in other nations. Perhaps people in Lubbock understand him crystal clear, but the rest of us cringe when he opens his mouth.

This has led to a sense among a lot of people that any alternative is better. Al Sharpton, had he won the nomination would probably still be competitive based on the same thought process. It is the wrong process, but expecting busy people to think intently about poltics on a daily basis is not to be expected. This is why we have a representative government.

Kerry is so terrible though it disgusts me that people here spend so much time attacking him rather than promoting what the President has really done. Unfortunately, the need to constantly say, "what the President meant was. . . ." is a big problem.

But, since I do pay attention, I know who I will be voting for.

My hairdresser is a sheeple. However, every time I go there, I "learn her" something. For instance, she started in one time gushing about "Bowling for Columbine." I then proceeded to inform her about Mr. Moore and his penchant for twisting the facts, and it seemed to make an impact.

Another time, we had a discussion about abortion. It seems she didn't know that abortion is legal at any time during pregnancy (depending on state law). She was very surprised to learn that, and also upset that the pro-choice people keep that so well hidden.

Thank God she's Canadian and can't vote.

Good for you, the more we reach into the preconceptions of supposed liberals the better chance we have of helping them see the light.
