It will take me some time to visualize this before I can offer intelligent comment. Is there an analog anywhere else on the Internet that can be proffered an an example of what you intend to do?

One thing I've been asking for for awhile would be a function to show most recent posts, sorted and aggregated by thread, with or without the "lead-in" paragraph.
Something like:
FREE REPUBLIC IS THE GREATEST SITE IN THE WORLD! Post #23 by Fnord to Mr. Cool at 1:19pm Post #22 by Fred to George at 1:17pm JOHN KERRY IS A WEASEL! FILM AT 11. Post #15 by Fnord to Mr. Cool at 1:18pm Post #14 by Fred to George at 1:17pm Post #13 by Fnord to Mr. Cool at 1:15pm Post #12 by Fred to George at 1:13pm
|
That would make things much nicer than the current 'threads' view.

anybody will be able to create new "forums" by creating new keywords. Oh, my. How many variations of "beeber" can we record as keywords before we get stuned?

FWIW, I really like the #views feature. Just goes to show what one thinks is hot is not, or vice versa.

This is Bush's fault. He knew.

Is this gonna be like what they do to us at work, which is to take away some of what we use, change the procedure for the rest, and give us extra new stuff we don't want?

John, I'd like to say that the installation of the new database server went extremely well. No (or insignificant) down time and the system performance seems to have improved quite a bit. Analyzing the server stats over the next few days should prove that out. Thanks for doing a great job! Looking forward to the new software features.

Oh man. Many here fear change of any kind. I hope you are prepared for the whining and bellyaching! Just don't move anyone's personal cheese.
I personally welcome any changes and updates you need to make in order to streamline things and make the site more user friendly. Looking forward to seeing what else you have in store!

"anybody will be able to create new "forums" by creating new keywords. " Hmmm.... Reminds me of when we let people start their own topics and ended up with several hundred "forums".
Slightly different spellings and nomenclature were the main problem I think.
My favorite old topic: Daily Index

How will the changes affect the current system of categorizing? Will the existing keywords and topic categories remain or will they be lost?
For example, to find a thread regarding my scoundrel of a congressman, Jim Moran will the currents threads with the keyword "JIMMORAN" still turn up? Or under a topic search of "Virginia" ? Thanks!

John, this sounds something like the Plantars Wart on my foot. If I could pull it out in one piece....there would be an awful lot of tendricles attached....but I might never figure out which one was the mother lode.
Yeah I know....the visuals aren't all that swift.
If I think of anything else, I'll comment again, OK?
