It's not justified..I got out as a 1LT USMC...and I sure as hell wouldn't return a salute from a guy at a VFW hall..I'd shake his hand, and buy him a beer..
I understand, but you're a man of integrity and honor. He on the other hand is a shmuck and he will justify doing a very stupid thing.
