Anyone who sues IBM is taking a nail file to a gunfight.

Maybe this will slow down the extortion games many lawyers are playing.

... the judge may very likely follow after IBM's request, which they would NOT have made, were they convinced in any way, that they might lose.
it's looking like game, set, match, nail and coffin for the microsoft/sco proxy war against IBM-LINUX.
what will "willie the gates" do?

Excellent.
SCO are the lowest pond scum in the business world.
They have the ethics of Kenneth Lay, Richard Scrushy and Bernie Ebbers BUT, unlike Lay, Scrushy and Ebbers they have not be able to significantly profit from their criminal activity.
They are incompetent scam artists.

From what I have read, their suckass unix product does not work without gpl software. If they can be banned from distributing all gpl'ed software for violating the gpl, their unix business will tank...er...tank more. This will still leave them free to practice their core business, litigation, but at least they won't be able to operate under the pretense of being a software company anymore.

Are you kidding? The lawyers are the only ones getting anything out of this whole thing. SCO's lawyers are draining every penny the company has, and IBM's lawyers are likely well paid as well.

.. SCO has renounced, disclaimed and breached the GPL, and therefore the GPL does not give SCO permission or a license to copy and distribute IBM's copyrighted works."
Everybody who has contributed their copyrighted code to GNU/Linux under the GPL should file similar lawsuits against SCO.

Everybody who has contributed their copyrighted code to GNU/Linux under the GPL should file similar lawsuits against SCO. Fyodor, the author of Nmap, already told SCO to cease and desist. It's been six months with no word, but I don't know if SCO has backed down or if he's just not rich enough to afford justice.

Good idea, get some of the money back from the lawyers "running" the company!

Excellent news. Glad to see the scumbag lawyers from SCO are getting a dose of their own poison.
(I know, I know..."scumbag lawyer" is redundant...like crapping on the New York Times.)
