His voice rising to a yell, Republican U.S. Senate nominee Alan Keyes told a bipartisan civic group Wednesday he "will not budge" from his belief that descendants of slaves should be exempted from income taxes to help heal the wounds of past discrimination and segregation. The former presidential candidate disdainfully brushed aside questions over whether his suggestion should apply to rich African Americans such as Tiger Woods, Michael Jordan or Oprah Winfrey.
"Do you know how many Oprah Winfreys there might have been running around in the 1930s or in the 1920s or in the 19-teens that got nowhere because the doors were shut in their face?" Keyes thundered. "If you think that because I wear a conservative label, I have forgotten that history and am not mindful of that injustice -- then I will tell you now that you are wrong."
Keyes delivered his blistering defense at a luncheon of the City Club of Chicago, scolding fellow conservatives who challenged his proposal and evoking the struggle of his African-American parents, saying they had talent and "hearts and spirit and strength and faith."
"Why didn't they get to a point where they could stand on this platform?" Keyes aked.
Vying against Democrat Barack Obama, Keyes drew heat from conservatives earlier this week when he proposed exempting descendants of slaves from income taxes for a generation or two, a view he insists "involves a traditionally Republican, conservative and market-oriented approach."
On Wednesday, Keyes ridiculed the fuss over his position, saying it is simply a tax break, something "Republicans and my conservative brethren" don't object to when applied to a "wealthy corporation."
Conservative activist Jack Roeser met with Keyes for what Roeser called "a long argument and an intense one" over the issue before the speech. A Barrington businessman, Roeser said he still is not sold on Keyes' reparations proposal, but still plans to support him anyway. "I will tell my friends that this is a good man, and we should support him."
I'll take Alan or Obama in the U.S. Senate every DAMN day of the week...what about you R_P2??
I know one of them quite well. He is a lawyer with an interest in economics.
would that be... TORIE? by any chance?
G'night brother. We're spanking that little boy liar Kerry over at that thread. It's too easy...he's such a pathetic schmuck...
And NOT pinging me,when you you post something about me,from a thread that Jim pulled, for crying out loud,is contemptible;not to mention despicable.
Cry a river why don't you...
"Bloohoo Mooooon..."
Make, bed, sleep, in...
I noted once today that Jim Robinson asked you to cease your Obamaosama ways, but never said it was nopardons. So I cop to using you as an exhibit in the court of public opinion today...jury wants the death penalty. Sorry. lol
I'll be your huckleberry, no pardons...lol
Yup.
The Albots were virtually swooning over his brilliant strategy, but when pressed, their standard fallback position (after all, who COULD defend this insanity?) was generally something along the lines of "Keyes supports it, so it MUST be good!"
It is a spurious libel.
Go through every single one of my posts and CCP where say that I am working to get Obama elected, that Obama is better than Keyes, and that everyone should vote for him.I've done none of that,so your search will be fruitless.
But that's okay...........you don't care about the facts nor the truth.
Hey, who said this, to whom and when? A chocolate chip facsimile for the winner...

"Don't you ever stop bad mouthing people?
Are you going to campaign for Obama?
If so, you won't be doing it here."
"Take it to DU"
<<<<
BTW, I had nothing to do with him setting you straight. I didn't even think anything about it until AFTER he responded to you.
Wow! That's almost as good as Kerry...the forceful denial of the truth in the face of the truth kind of Kerry.
Yes, for the record, I refuse to hit the abuse button EVER and think that anyone who does needs to grow some...
I saw the post from Jim Robinson, how he saw your Obamaosama ways and said if you persist you will be canned and you can go to DU to elect Obamaosama - and it is all now a permanent part of the public FRecord...
And NOT pinging me,when you you post something about me,from a thread that Jim pulled, for crying out loud,is contemptible;not to mention despicable.
We are getting a good taste of what kind of people Keyes seems to attract. Scary, isn't it.
I am still kicking myself for having supported the man for YEARS, never seeing this side of him.
Oh, well. At least I didn't drink the koolade. And I don't really mind the raging lies and attacks from those who did drink it.
I mean, think about it. They drank it. How much longer will they be able to continue nipping at our heels? ;)
On a more serious note, this does not bode well for... well, for anything except the RAT party, who must be yukking it up bigtime over the spectacle of a "prominent black conservative" promoting hard-left dogma -- and, having it tear apart what's left of the Republican Wing of the GOP.
Hopefully the madman won't succeed in doing much more damage than he's already done, but somehow I don't think it would be wise to count on that.
I cringe at the thought of what might come flying out that mouth of his during the debates.
Last I heard, Osamba was weaseling out of the debates, said his offer was for the original candiate, he might give Keyes one or two debates max.
Well, after this lunacy hit the news, I would be surprised if he doesn't decide that he really would like to debate Keyes -- a lot!
He, and the rest of the RATs, have been very silent while Keyes has been fanning the flames of the firestorm he ignited.
They're smart enough to play the "when your enemy is destroying himself, don't interrupt him" game. But at some point, they'll have to say something, and good old Keyes has given them no end of openings.
Good grief...
Find and CPP a post of mine, where I say that I am working FOR Obama and that he SHOULD win, because he is great. Making one one is a no-no,and easily disproven;so is editing a post of mine to make it fit.
I'll now leave you to your research.
It's also a spam. He posted it over and over and over and over and over... like a kid sticking his fingers in his ears and going "blabalabalablablablaba" when he's getting lectured for his misbehavior.
When they ran out of things to say in defense of their hero's actions, they reverted to spammer-mode, and started flooding the thread with that boilerplate over and over and over...
The other thing I found particularly telling about it was the way the boilerplate implied that the spammer was speaking on Jim's behalf.
Of course, the implied message, i.e., "do what I say, or Jim will close this thread down PRONTO!" sort of ran flat somewhere into the five, six, and seven hundred post mark, when, after how many hours of the spammed threats of instant thread-pulling, the thread remained, with nary a post pulled? (unless I missed one that got deleted after I read it, but I did try to check for that, and I found no deletia).
The more they continue that behavior, the more they cast the Keybots as a pack of anklebiter "hallway monitor" types, who, when they do not receive any respect (never having earned> any), revert to type, and begin trying to shout down and intimidate any and all who disagree with them.
Real life is often cruel to their sort, but having endured their abuse here, I must say I don't really care. Call me cold-hearted, go ahead. ;)
:o)

This was a complete waste of time by Keyes. His opponent is not even "Black". Barak Obama is the descendant of Arab Muslims (who created the slave trade!) and a white American mother. Why is Alan trying to "out-Black" a non-Black opponent?
...who in his right mind wants to soil his own reputation by smearing it with "I supported Alan 'marxist-racist-redistributionist' Keyes"? I can't think of any reason to support this loser.
Good grief. Don't you ever stop bad mouthing people? Are you going to campaign for Obama? If so, you won't be doing it here. Take it to DU.
