Won't that result in "splinter groups"?
My ake is very cynical..it's gonna be very ugly, and it may well give Bush the margin of victory in some swing states..it's an easy transition, and connection, for undecided voters to make, to wit:.."If these assholes and lowlifes are that opposed to W, how can I side with them?"...For those here yong enough to remembere the 68 Dem convention in Chicago...that display cost Humphrey several states..
It probably will get ugly, but the NYPD isn't the Seatle PD. These cops remember 9/11 - they're not going to let a gang of pimply-faced punks give them much trouble. Look for a lot of use of the billy club - its more satisfying than rubber bullets.
Yeowza!
For some reason, I don't think that would play well for Republicans on the evening news.
I've always thought that was a strange location for a heart.
Perhaps just the heat wave. They would be more likely to riot and show their true colors, but I don't really wish this on the residents of New York.
"What floor do you live on ? I would suggest water balloons if above the ground floor, the higher up the better."
I'm sure they will be well-prepared to sue at the drop of a hat.
It is risky to hold a convention in the state of Hillary Clinton, she's no doubt a major organizer of the protests. The Clinton's have plenty of practice when it comes to protesting wars.
I suspect their mentors hidden away in faculty lounges and other hothouses are dreaming of a replay of Chicago 1968, when the democratic convention was upstaged by violence in the streets. Many attribute Hubert Humphrey's loss to the fallout from televised chaos.
But there are differences which work against these punks:
First, in 1968 there was as much division and chaos inside the convention hall as there was in the streets. The democrappers were badly split among themselves. The 2004 GOP, by contrast, is fully united.
In 1968 the violence was hard up against the convention venue itself, thus in full glare of the lights and cameras.
New York will have these pests cordoned off and way out of the way.
In 1968 there was much made of a "police riot" and the scruffies were made to look like victims. New York's finest won't make that mistake, and the miscreants will be revealed for what they are.
Final difference: It's a 9/11 world now, and we know who the bad guys are. They ain't us.
In Phoenix? They would have the worst case of sun-burn they could possibly imagine. It doesn't take long there. It's funny just thinking about it.
Yea right. I bet it a fraction of 1million.
Maybe the act up crowd, but aids has drastically reduced their numbers.Probably the homeless who were promised a bottle of ripple wine and a can of potted meat. Liberals are so funny and sound so sweet when you kick their asses up against the wall. Bush/Cheney 2004
One million Democrats covered in feces and gunpowder against post 9/11 NYC Firemen? Might be a clear distinction from good guy/bad guy for that confrontation.
but I don't really wish this on the residents of New York.
We sent them pizzas.
Nope. They just took over the administrative building and then held "teach-ins" in one of the major auditoriums.
Of course, it was in the middle of a harsh New England winter, and some of them scolded me for not attending their brainwashing sessions (a.k.a, teach-ins) despite the fact that I had a badly broken ankle and was non-weight bearing on crutches. One of them even told me, in a very exasperated tone of voice, that the auditorium had wheelchair access. I just glared at her and said "Do you see a f-ing wheelchair anywhere around here?! I have *crutches*, you chunkhead!"
