Greenspan is a lifelong Republican, with a strong libertarian bias. His traditional stance borrowed heavily from Milton Friedman, though lately he has strayed from Friedman's emphasis on money aggregates.

A month ago I would have agreed with you that Greenspan was blowing it by creating too much money. The current soft spot in the economy (probably caused by oil prices) is making him look better than before.
