New York Post ^ | 8/18/04 | ADAM BUCKMAN

August 18, 2004 -- STATEN Island cable subscribers will be the first metropolitan area residents to see a new commercial calling for a boycott of Bruce Springsteen's anti-Bush concert tour. The 30-second spot was produced by Dr. Marilyn O'Grady, an opthalmic surgeon from Long Island who is also an outspoken Conservative Party candidate for the U.S. Senate.

O'Grady's anti-Springsteen commercial made its debut yesterday on Albany cable TV, where it was seen during Fox News Channel programming.

Plans call for the spot to turn up on Fox News on other local cable systems, including Staten Island, where the spot will begin airing sometime next week, according to a spokesman for the O'Grady campaign.

Man, that look on Stringspeen's face in the NYPost article is exactly how I feel whenever I think of that New Jersey boss-weasle and how he is trying to turn rock n roll against the Republicans.

As a life long rock n roll fan, I must say that Stringspeen makes me sick. I cannot and will not buy his or any musicians music ever again as long as they continue to use their fans as a stage to bash President Bush.

Ditto...and I totally disagree with previous posters on this subject that said that this would only bring more attention to these "Shut up and Sing" candidates. This garbage has to be refuted and it has been too long that all these idiots like Loose Bedspring have gotten a pass on propagating their stupidity.

Shut up and Please....Don't Sing...

Bruce Sringsteen hasnt been cool for 25 years.

If you have to get a blast from the past that reminds you of his glory days, dig up some Southside Johnny and the Asbury Dukes or some Nils Lofgren

He's been washed up for a long time. He's not worth the effort.

I believe the way to deal with Bruce Springsteen is to just ignore him. Running an ad against him will backfire.

Don't buy his politics then don't buy his music is good.

Why enrich the hypocritical socialist? Use money as a vote and silence him and degrade his lavish lifestyle. I like it ... .

Did you see Peter Frampton on Fox and Friends the other day? When I heard them announce him, I had a feeling of dread: Oh no, not another musician who's going to ruin my enjoyment of his music.

Well, he was great. Before he sang, he said, "All I want to say is no matter how you feel about this war, we have to support our troops."

Dumb ass colmes showed this ad then said something to the fact" how can you call yourself a patriot if you boycott the man who sang Born in the USA?"

Springsteen could only wish that he could play guitar half as good as Lee Atwater.

This does not pass the smell test for me.

Why on earth would a Conservative Party Candidate buy ads Promoting the Anti-Bush Concert.

As Ms. O' Grady and Bruce know, Any Publicity is Good Publicity.

Before (Frampton) sang, he said, "All I want to say is no matter how you feel about this war, we have to support our troops."

I didn't see the show.

But that "we have to support the troops" is usually a misdirection play by liberal Bush-hating Dems who think that will give them credibility.

In reality, it is IMPOSSIBLE to "support" the troops when those same troops have dedicated their lives to carrying out President Bush's policy of stamping out Iraqi and Muslim terror.

That would be like me saying I support street hookers because they are American and they are women -- even though I don't support what they are doing on the streets.

The last time I liked a Springstein song was when Reagan took "Born In the USA," an anti-war US bashing song, and used it to coast to victory in '84. ROFL! It drove the libs NUTS!

I still remember Richard Belzer shrilly declaring that Reagan didn't get it, it was an anti-war song, blah blah. In reality it was Belzer and the rest that didn't "get it" Reagan took what was supposed to be a blow against America and turned it around to inspire us and make us even stronger. Can't get much more American than that. Thank you Bruce for not "getting it" in '84.
