Sabato is about as "fair" as one can expect from a political science professor. But remember that last week nobody knew what kind of stunt McGreevey would pull. I think Sabato realizes that this adds a new dynamic which changes everything.
Aarrh, all these professional commentators have to spout something for their columns, websites and TV appearances. Except that they managed to get a punditry gig, and get to hob-nob with polticians and celebrities at social events, they arn't any better at reading the tea leaves than the rest of us.
But when pundits like Sabato hint at inside knowledge — "Some details, if revealed, are sure to shock even the cynical among us," Sabato writes — but don't tell the public, they cross over to the dark side as far as I'm concerned.
