You know, Quix, I really wonder at the motivations of people like this. Would Doug9732 imply or tell my husband, my husband's ex-Marine son, and Solamente, etc., to their faces that they are delusional liars? If so, he'd risk getting his teeth knocked out. He has no difficulty implying on this forum that you and they are liars, however. He runs no risk other than revealing things about himself.

Yes, I am beginning to conclude that guys like Doug9732 -- let's refer to them as "D-Prototypes" -- are inable to ponder the possibility that my husband, stepson, Solamente, etc., are honest witnesses, because D-Prototypes lack the security to contemplate something that upsets their set beliefs.

My bet would be that the D-Prototype is typically an atheist. He would lose his spiritual compass entirely if his precepts of physical reality were upset, hence D-Prototype's mulish insistence that you, my husband, Solamente, and other UFO witnesses (D-Prototype calls them "believers" because he cannot accept the difference between faith and knowledge -- I have faith in God, but it is not on faith that I accept that two plus two is four; I don't "believe" in math, I KNOW math!) are delusional. Any other possibility poses too great a threat to D-Prototype's cozy world view.

Pray for all atheists that they may realize God, and tap into the deep security received through faith to face scary truths rather than avoiding them through mulish denial. Pray for me that I avoid similar traps for having improper pride in my own faith.

Fitting points, imho.

I do think, however, that people who believe in God--good Christians--also are terrified at having their tidy little boxes shredded by paradigm shifts that are toooooo jangley.

I think it also gets back to the issue of

RELIGION VS RELATIONSHIP.

God requires we have an ongoing dialogue sort of RELATIONSHIP with Him. Jesus said: MY SHEEP KNOW MY VOICE.

But, from before the pharisees . . . back in Old Testament times until today--mankind has found RELIGION much more comfortable. Religion can be twisted and tortured into anything any self-serving ego maniac or simply fearful person or simply an insecure person wants it to be to serve their own ends.

The Bible has been used to justify all kinds of craziness and evil in the name of RELIGION etc.

Certainly I think you are right that insecurities are at the root.

Our security has to be in our relationship with God.

When the ET stuff starts coming out in waves, in a flood, then truly, as The Bible says, many hearts will fail them for fear.

Life is plenty complex. And, in our era, it looks like much that we've taken for 'reality' will be turned upside down and inside out--perhaps on alternate days.

Only our relationship with God will be our high tower; our defense; our sanity; our hope. And we'd better be practiced at listening to Him if we want to know how and where to step next.

It is conceivable to me, that while I believe that 95-99% of the reported UFO's etc. are in cahoots with satan currently--it is conceivable to me that God could use His angels and some sort of craft. There is Ezekiel's chariot, on the record, after all. We'd better know how to discern between good and evil angels, if that's the case.

Mostly, I don't think God needs to bother with technology. He speaks and it happens. But He uses radio and TV and microphones so I guess He can use any technology He wants to, too.

It does get weary-ing and annoying when so many solid reports sorts of things about the UFO phenomena are available, that the derisive tendencies and assumptions--and the public gestalt carries the day instead of the evidence.

I'd guess that there are 1-2 dozen FREEPERS that I know of who've had first hand experiences. Some repeatedly. These are solid people. Many were as strong a skeptics as anyone before their experiences. I don't think such people deserve to be ridiculed AT ALL. And yet they get all kinds of horse biscuits shoveled on them at the drop of a hat. And that's supposed to be reasonable and more intellectually valid somehow. HOGWASH!

Sigh.

Anyway--thanks tons for your comments. Nice to have someone on this side with me for a change!

Just be practiced at ducking and hosing yourself off afterwards!

"delusional liars?"

I'm sure they saw something unusual, but may well have misinterpreted what they saw. It is up to those who support the "alien hypothesis" to provide the sort of evidence that would be admissable in a court of law. I'm willing to change my mind, but until they provide that evidence, I'm quite skeptical about the whole subject. The same goes for "global warming". I do, however, believe that Vincent Foster was murdered and TWA flight 800 was shot down!
