Bobby Fischer is wanted for playing chess in 1992 in Yugoslavia. Although I think Bobby Fischer is pathetic, what will bringing him back to the states and trying him for playing chess will accomplish? No other participant or promoter will get charged? Are we going to through a tired, powerless dejected old man in prison for playing chess in Yugoslavia? I don’t like him for what he has said regarding 9/11, but this is not criminal.

We have Jesse Jackson who goes to Libya to have tea with Gaddalfi. We have Hollywoodites, like Spielberg and Oliver Stone, who constantly go to Cuba and smoke cigars with Fidel Castro. Nobody complains. My other concern, however, is with Japan’s tactics. They seem to want to keep Charles Jenkins, the North Korean defector who is married to a repatriated Japanese woman. Instead they will offer Bobby Fischer as a sacrificial pawn. I am afraid the US will take its eye off the ball. Charles Jenkins is a traitor who, assumably, offered countless insider knowledge to the North Koreans. Bobby Fischer is played chess in a war zone. Let’s see, who is more criminal and harmed the US more?

Bobby Fischer's Next Move... Fischer...has appealed to U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell to help him renounce U.S. citizenship...

Sounds like a variation of the Nimzo [West] Indian defense to me, so I'm guessing his next move will be pawn to king's knight 4 to protect his flank.

I love the way the press says "allegedly".

Even Fisher doesn't claim he wasn't traveling on a revoked passport. He just says he didn't know it was revoked (which is highly unlikely). Last time I checked, not knowing you were doing something illegal is not a defense.
