So Who Are These Swift Boat Guys?
With all of the attempts by the blogosphere to keep the spotlight on the Swift Boat Veterans for Truth in the absence of much, if any, MSM coverage (exceptions noted here, for example) I decided to check out the coverage by the Buffalo News.
Now, if their website's search engine is accurate then what we find is that during the last ten days there have been five mentions of the Swift Boat Veterans.
One was in a Charles Krauthammer op-ed.
Three letters to the editor were published, against, pro attempting to be "balanced", and definitely con.
And finally there was the lovely editorial entitled, The low road, no further explanation necessary -- although the writer did see fit to throw in a disapproving scowl to Michael Moore just to show his balance.
But during these last ten days not a single news story has run with the single word "swift" in it that refers to John Kerry. Not that this is surprizing; the Buffalo News is a just a middle-of-the-road paper in a medium to small market that has no national reporting staff.
It relies on the wire services for national news and serves primarily as a cash-cow for Warren Buffett.
What is interesting is that three letters-to-the-editor have been published about the topic (they could have suppressed them completely). But even with no reporting on the paper's part, the people know about this and are passionate about it.
Yet they don't report it. I just shake my head, you decide. #
BUMP
can we say "UNCLE" John...?
