What I am reasonably clear about, because of a number of court cases specifically involving religious groups, is that religious groups cannot be denied access solely based on the fact that their purpose or content is religious in nature. They can be denied access for other reasons, but those reasons must be applied fairly and evenly to all groups.

Actually, the law is that if a school allows one group to meet on campus off school hours, they must let all groups meet. They cannot discriminate for any reason, religious or otherwise. The Federal Equal Access Act was created due to lobbying from religious groups in order to allow religious groups to meet on school campuses. Many of these same religious groups threw a massive temper tantrum when the same Act was found to allow gay groups to meet.

I'm not sure how the school could be in the right here, though I would like more information than that which comes from a Creationist source.

Dimensio, thanks for the explanation, you know the subject better than I. Yes I can imagine the religious groups throwing a hissy fit. But hey, as a religious man myself I have to admit, fair is fair.

Modernman, Dimensio's post adds much to my answer to your question.

Dimensio,

Thank you for a honest reply to the post. (and it only took 105 replies)
