"Men cry, 'peace, peace,'" said Patrick Henry, "but there is no peace. The war has already begun."
Today in America there are people who loudly insist they are against war. "No war!" their bumper stickers proclaim.
They believe that we should not have invaded Iraq. They apparently feel that we should wait for the next terrorist attack on our own soil, rather than rooting out the terrorists and their supporters where they live.

There's another point, too, one enunciated by retired General Tommy Franks, the officer who directed our invasion of Iraq.
"If you want your grandchildren to grow up in an open society," Gen. Franks said in a recent interview, "we'd better deal with the problem (of terrorism) as far away from here as possible, even though that's not easy or easily affordable."
In other words, terrorist strikes on us here at home will inevitably lead to tighter security within our own borders, to stricter controls over our own travel, our own flow of information, our own civil liberties. Many Americans are already protesting the restrictions imposed by the Homeland Security law, but the more terrorists strike at us, the tighter such restrictions will inevitably become.

'Note to the strategically challenged at the DU' ...bump
Its of little use. I learned from debating these bozos during the Cold War - they are idiots when it comes to foreign policy.
Disqualifier: Anyone who can't understand why Iraq was part of the larger War Against Terrorism has no bussiness discussing foreign policy.
Sounds like a self fulfilling prophesy guaranteed by the negligence of our elected officials in washington.
it's better to fight them there with tanks and planes than here with Firemen and Police!!!
Lol, maybe we should unilateraly disarm, that would show 'em! In any case, knowing how muslim extremist feel about foreign christian troops on their soil, this strategy not only is working, but is brilliant.
"This problem will never be solved until we solve the root causes. The way to solve the root causes is to kill the Jihadists. Bullets in their chests and bullets in their heads takes care of both hearts and minds."
Agreed, only I'd like to take it a step further. We need to destroy the madrasses (sp?), the schools where this stuff is taught. The teachers of this hate must have their offices terminated with extreme prejudice.
I've been using these exact same arguments with my lefty friends and relatives since the start of Iraqi Freedom (remind them of that mission name, BTW), and it seems to at least shut them up if not get them thinking. Maybe I'm luckier than most, in that my lefty relatives aren't stupid, just uninformed and seem to respond to treatment. (Ignorance I can cure. Stupidity is fatal.)
I agree: brilliant strategy.
But the terrorist cells are already in place here, and their activation is inevitable. More MEs are coming through Mexico everyday. "Something's afoot, Watson."
Remember what the murderous Muslim and his homo-boy - the Beltway Shooters - did to the DC-VA-MD region in '02. Think 50 -60 two or three man teams in major cities... Yikes!
it amazes me how many fail to understand and appreciate Iraq's current role as a terrorist-magnet and meat-grinder.
have these dolts never heard of channelizing the enemy into a prepped kill-box?
Well, if you have a Concealed weapons permit, USE it!!
If you are allowed to carry a weapon in the state that you live, carry it, if you are not allowed to carry, then MOVE!!!
If you want your grandchild to live in a open society...this so true. I didn't think of that. Who wants to live under marshall law? This will happen if we don't tackle terrorism problem over there.
I do.
I've had a CCW since '90, and carry daily (Kimber "Eclipse Target II 1911A1 .45cal ACP). I also carry an AR-10 (.308cal) with 10 x 20-round mags in my '02 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, daily.
My Class III AR-15s and two .50cals are at work in the Cannon dbl-door gun safe.
I'm quite content here in Penna, thankyouverymuch.
Now what is your problem with so many exclamation points?
