The BSA is a private club and they have the right to set the standards they choose.

IOW, yes, you are in favor of discriminating against kids based on a religious test.
Is it so hard to say it right out?

I secularism is a religion, then yes I am in favor keeping them out of private clubs that don't want them to join. If that is you what you call discrimination, you bet ya ! they have the right to discriminate in that manner, because it is a private club that has the right to set its standards.

What do you expect? The organization is called the BOY Scouts of AMERICA. Right there they have "discriminated" against girls and Australians.

So should atheist organizations be forced to accept the religious?

What's wrong with discriminating against kids based on a religious test? Synagogues don't allow non-Jews to belong to them and Catholic churches don't allow non-Catholics to be fully-communing members. Shoot, even the Masons require a belief in a Supreme Being, and as everyone knows, they're Secretly Behind Communism! ;-)

Are you saying it should be illegal for a private organization to set its own membership standards? Or do you only oppose discrimination based on religion and think it's fine and dandy alone any other lines?

Are you aware that religion is the proper arbiter of what is right and wrong and that non-religious people with morals, ethics, or ideals of any kind are parasitic hypocritical bags of sh*t?

On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country
And to obey the Scout law.
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake,
and morally straight.

That oath still has meaning to some people. If you can't take it and mean it, don't join.

And atheist youth groups "discriminate" against believers. What's your point?

I see nothing wrong with a PRIVATE group discriminating on the basis of religion, sex, or any other criteria as far as their membership is concerned. They are private and have the right to preserve their organizational culture by admitting only those who share it.

If a bunch of straights joined a gay group, or a bunch of Gentiles joined a Jewish group, with the viewpoint of taking over the organization and seizing control of organizational assets, for purposes hostile to the original aims of the organizations founders, what would your opinion be?

ABSOLUTELY NOTHING is stopping the atheists, agnostics, wiccans (fill in the blank) from forming their own version of scouting. So go do it.
No different than joing the PGA, or NFL, then showing up with baseball bats, batting helmets etc. You join the BSA, and you must play by their rules, not whatever you want to do as a member.
And if you are offended by this, go pout somewhere else.

It's a private organization. If you don't like their rules, don't join. It's as simple as that.

You really are spoiling for a fight aren't you!

If you don't believe in God, you aren't a candidate for the Boy Scouts. Is that clear enough for you?

What part of "A Scout Is Reverent" don't you understand?
