CA: Suspect funds to Shelley traced

Secretary of State Kevin Shelley received $30,000 in donations to his 2002 campaign from a 62-year-old foster-care provider who said Friday that the money was tied to a home purchase from Julie Lee, the president of a nonprofit who is under fire for a series of questionable political contributions.

State records show Eliana Maldonado wrote checks for $10,000 and $20,000 to Shelley on Sept. 27, 2002. Four days later, Maldonado took ownership of a three-bedroom, three-bath house from Lee and her husband, Shing Kit.

The San Francisco Chronicle reported Friday that Patrick K. Hsu, a 69-year-old retired state worker, said he was unaware that his $50,000 down payment on another Lee-sold property in 2001 would also end up as a Shelley campaign contribution.

Combined with allegations that Lee diverted $125,000 in state grant money into Shelley's campaign in 2001, the latest findings suggest that Lee misrepresented more than $200,000 of donations toward Shelley's successful statewide run. It is illegal under state law to conceal the source of a campaign contribution.

Is it me or did they forget to note his party?

Think he may be a Taxocrat?

Its either a libRAT "journalist" or a conservative one who thinks being nice and hiding the perps party affiliation will win him credibility as a "journalist".

No wonder RATS are always screaming about being VICTIMS. They're victims of their OWN PARTY!

He is a poster boy for the crooked Girly Boys in Sacramento.

Yep, amazing how the party of dishonored rats never gets mentioned in articles.

Apparently, a lot of local papers across the nation aren't noting that the resigning Governor, McCramit, is a rat.

Four days later, Maldonado took ownership of a three-bedroom, three-bath house from Lee and her husband, Shing Kit.

I wonder if Shing Kit knows that his name is an anagram for King Sh!t.

No need to note his party. He's in a state-wide elected office, and the only Republican in a state-wide office is Arnold, so by default, he's a Dem. It just goes without saying! Except that, if he HAD been a Pubbie, it would have been prominately noted.
